Things to do in hong kong
the big buddha⭐️ |
The Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery are a must for any visit to Hong Kong. The 34m high bronze statue on top of the mountain is a magnificent sight to see. And if your energetic enough to walk up the 268 steps, you will have a beautiful view of the surrounding area and the Buddha itself.
Next to the Buddha is the one Hong Kong most important Buddhist sanctums the Po Lin Monastery where you can visit and enjoy the gardens. There are also lots of shops and restaurants in the area to visit.
To reach the Buddha most visitors including myself would take the 25min journey on the Ngong Ping 360 cable car from Tung Chung MTR station (exit B) on the Island line. It’s worth booking in advance to avoid the queue. The Crystal Cars (glass bottom) add an extra element to the ride! More details here; Ngong Ping 360

Chi Lin Nunnery⭐️ |
The Chi Lin Nunnery and gardens offer a break from the hustle and bustle of the city life, with their spectacular and peaceful gardens and views. The gardens are built in the classic style of the Tang Dynasty. The gardens also have a fantastic Vegetarian restaurant, but you will need to book in advance.
The Nunnery is a large temple complex of wooden architecture and boasts a few exhibitions including Buddhist relics.
Nan Lian Garden is situated at Diamond Hill of Kowloon, taking in the full view of southeast Kowloon. The Garden and the Chi Lin Nunnery to its north together back into the sprawling northern mountain range.
The best way to reach there is via the MTR to Diamond Hill station and the main gate is just opposite (take Exit C2). The MTR is at Hollywood Plaza shopping centre.
