eat in PARIS
Alain Ducasse $$$+⭐️ |
Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée has definitely given me one of the most memorable dining experiences, though the price tag may not be for everyone, but it sure was worth every penny. It is a Michelin three-starred restaurant after all.
The restaurant is housed inside one of the best hotels in Paris (if not in the world) Plaza Athénée, and the décor is a culmination of extravagance combined with modern elegance (love the raindrop chandeliers dappled from the ceiling). However, there is a strict dress code policy, and jacket is mandatory for gentlemen, and you could get turned down if you are deemed improperly dressed.
On the contrary, food from the restaurant emphasis on using everything natural, as well as being sustainable, but with meticulous intent and innovation. The set menu was over 10 courses, if you don’t include all the palate cleanser and petit fours fit for a royal (think grapes). We were wowed by each and every single course, not only on how they looked, but also how they tasted. Service was smooth as silk, as clearly, a heavy amount of training has gone into it.
My absolute favourite dish has to be the seared scallops with baked cauliflower with white truffle. The cauliflower was baked in whole inside a bread-like pastry, and it was cut like a loaf of bread when being served. I have never had cauliflower cooked this way, and I was in love.
It is certainly not a place for a everyday meal, but it’s a place that you have to try at least once in your life time if you ever had the chance, and you won’t regret it.

Pink Mamma $$⭐️ |
Under the family tree of Big Mamma group in Paris, Pink Mamma is a hip and vibrant Italian restaurant situated in the Pigalle neighbourhood, which is next to the famous Moulin Rouge. The restaurant is a four-storey building that has a unique design and décor to each floor. Whether it’s seated at the high table, bar or kitchen counter, you are sure to catch all the vibe and action happening.
Meat is the restaurant’s focus, and the T-bone steak is unmissable. Upon detail investigate on the menu, you will discover other culinary treasures such as the wooden oven pizzas, burrata cheese salads, aged Parma ham, hearty pasta and inventive cocktails.
What is a perfect Italian meal without a big mouthful of dessert? Tiramisu won me over, and it did not disappoint. The waiter came in with a big baking dish of the crowd pleaser dessert, and started scooping on to your plate….until you say when! It tasted exactly like how you would imagined an Italian grandma would have made it.
Highly recommend anyone who wants to enjoy a good dining experience and simply good Italian cooking. But be prepared to wait a little bit to get seated because a queue is imminent for this happening place.

Anahi $$⭐️ |
When you just about to have enough of French food in Paris, Anahi offers an enticing alternative for some Argentinian flavours. Anahi is tucked away in a quiet little area on Rue Volta, and it’s transformed from a 20’s butcher and deli, so the white tiles and marbles became a prominent feature of the décor. Interestingly, the cracked tiles on the wall creates a strong contrast and character to the freshly adorned flowers around the establishment.
We ordered some of the more traditional dishes you would get from an Argentinean restaurant, empanadas, corn tortilla chips with guacamole and grilled herb-crusted ribeye steak. The guacamole was very fresh and it’s got a slightly different taste to the traditional Mexican ones. Empanadas were cooked to perfection with that pastry and satisfying fillings of ground beef and spices.
The main star was of course the ribeye. The herb marinade gave it an extra depth of flavours and crisp, while the juices were locked inside.
Cutting through the steak took no effort. The steak was simply paired with a side of creamy potato mash with a herb salsa verde (and my mouth is watering now as I am writing this).
When dessert time came, the souffle was a no brainer for me, as not many places nowadays do them, let alone a chocolate one. So when it came out, it instantly brought a huge smile to my face, as it looked like a dream. It has risen just at the right level, and when you dig into it, all the chocolate goodness just oozes out, with a spoonful of that mint ice cream, I’ve gone to chocolate heaven and back.
Next time when you are done with having onion soups and croissants, you will know where to go in Paris.

Le 404 $$⭐️ |
From the outside, Le 404 looks like a small hidden night club, that has nothing more than just the number 404 neon sign on top. Once getting through the front door curtain, you immediately feel like you are no longer in Paris, but somewhere in Morocco. My eyes were drawn to the bustling open kitchen with silver pots teetering on open stoves, and terracotta tagines being stacked high on shelfs, waiting to be filled with scrumptious stews.
There were a lot of things on the menu we wanted to try, but since there were only the 2 of us and portions were quite hefty, so we have made the executive decision to order the mezza appetiser plate, lamb koftas and chick tagine. While we did have food envy on dishes we couldn’t order, all of our dishes tasted authentic and amazing. Lamb koftas were perfectly spiced, and chicken tagine was tender, juicy and zesty (it was cooked with lemon and pickled olives). I guess that left us the reason to go back for more next time we visit Paris.
